The Limonar neighbourhood lies on the southern periphery of Medellin and is challenged with great social and economic difficulties. Most of the residents do not have a regular income and try to keep their heads above water with odd jobs. Alcoholism, drug abuse and violence within and outside of the family are widespread. The ones who suffer most are the children.

By participating in our kindergarten program you are enabling children from Limonar to attend an all-day kindergarten. They are cared for lovingly and can pursue valuable age-appropriate pedagogic activities that support their whole development. They receive one main meal and two snacks a day. If possible the person to whom the child relates (usually the mother) is integrated in the education process, to enable the long-term improvement of the living conditions. The children’s state of health is monitored regularly. If necessary appropriate measures are taken, e.g. nutritional help, a visit to the doctor or admission to a hospital.

The attendance to the kindergarten is an indispensable requirement for the subsequent attendance to school, especially for these children from difficult backgrounds.
